Native Americans dancing on lawn of Sheridan Inn

1890 - 1910

The Sheridan Inn was built in 1893 by the Burlington Railroad and Sheridan Land Company to draw visitors to the area. It was lavishly decorated and boasted a carved bar imported from England. The hotel was operated by the Buffalo Bill Hotel Company and it was said that William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody recruited entertainers for his wild west show on its covered porch. The inn was also the first building in Sheridan to use electric lights.

The building was saved from destruction through the efforts of the Sheridan County Historical Society in 1966-67 and is currently open as a hotel and bar.
