The Festival Pleasure Gardens in Battersea Park, the companion to the Southbank Exhibition during the Festival of Britain. A likeness of the Crystal Palace, the centrepiece of the Great Exhibition of 1851, can be seen in the background.
Some of the highlights of the Pleasure Gardens included:
An amusement park, which lasted until the mid 1970s;
a miniature railway; a 'West End' Restaurant with a terrace overlooking the river; 'Foaming Fountains'; a wine garden; and
an amphitheatre seating 1,250 people
