The St. Petersburg Museum of history was founded in 1920 by the St. Petersburg Historical Society; it is Pinellas County’s oldest museum. The Mission of the St. Petersburg Museum of History is to collect, preserve and communicate the history and heritage of Florida with emphasis on St. Petersburg and the Pinellas Peninsula.
The Museum has an archival collection of over 8,000 photos, as well as early city directories, Sanborn Maps, blueprints, vintage postcards, and a collection of documents, all concerning St. Petersburg, Florida history.
