Live in West Berkshire, England. Formerly worked in database admin then gave it all up in mid 1990s when became a mother. Now doing what I love most as I am a genealogist, local historian, vintage photo detective and keen amateur photographer (still much to learn!). I am also a National Trust volunteer.
My channel photo/logo is the oldest photograph in my family's possession. Unlabelled, it is believed to be of my gg grandparents. The man was a trooper in the Lifeguards, at one point in time based in Windsor. I have his service records. When he left, in the late 1870s, he joined the City of London police until at some point moving to Africa to work as a bank messenger in Jeppestown . He had returned to England by 1911, complete with second or third wife (I have never found proof that my gg grandparents actually married, most likely not) and family that until recently no one knew existed! I recently sent off for his death certificate and found that his body was found in the river Cam in 1919. (So much for being in the Lifequards! :-) )
My banner photo shows my grandmother (on the right hand side) standing in the doorway of H.G.Stiles in St Ives, Huntingdonshire, England where she worked. The photo was taken in 1926. My grandfather worked in Foster Brothers Clothing Co. Ltd, right next door.
I will pin as many vintage photos as I can but unfortunately some cannot be uploaded as I don't know where they were taken. If only labelling of photos was compulsory :-)
